Happy first full week of summer, Lane County families! 🌞

Here's a little “unhinged” parenting hack from one tired parent to another: whenever I make a pot of rice, soup, chili, or anything roasted, I just put the whole pot or pan back in the fridge if we have space. One pot, zero extra containers, fewer dishes. When it comes time to warm up the leftovers, they’re already in their cooking container. Your fridge won't look Pinterest-worthy, but you'll save a little time and energy — and right now, that counts!

Here are this week's highlights:

🌟 BIPOC Children's Fest (The Come Up!) — Thursday evening at the Farmers Market Pavilion. A powerful free celebration of BIPOC youth creativity, art, and entrepreneurship. Spanish interpreter available.

Springfield Drifters are back for summer! Catch Teacher Appreciation Night on Wednesday and Soccer Night on Thursday at Hamlin Sports Complex. Kids 12 and under get in free on most games!

🌺 Summer Reading Kick-Off — Wednesday morning in Springfield's Fountain Plaza. Kick off the season with a beautiful 'Ori Tahiti cultural presentation by Anavai O Te Ora. Free for all ages, and the Wednesday series runs through August!

📚 Fun at the library this week! Tweens can make a terrarium or craft Perler bead jewelry, kids ages 5-9 get to make (and eat!) ice cream🍦, and teens can belt it out at karaoke. All free, all at Eugene Public Library branches.

👶 Incredible INFANTs parenting class starts June 30 for parents of babies 0-4 months. Scholarships available!

The free newsletter making HR less lonely

The best HR advice comes from people who’ve been in the trenches.

That’s what this newsletter delivers.

I Hate it Here is your insider’s guide to surviving and thriving in HR, from someone who’s been there. It’s not about theory or buzzwords — it’s about practical, real-world advice for navigating everything from tricky managers to messy policies.

Every newsletter is written by Hebba Youssef — a Chief People Officer who’s seen it all and is here to share what actually works (and what doesn’t). We’re talking real talk, real strategies, and real support — all with a side of humor to keep you sane.

Because HR shouldn’t feel like a thankless job. And you shouldn’t feel alone in it.
